The former High School Musical star is married to professional baseball player Cole Tucker. Hudgens and Tucker met online over Zoom for a meditation group during the COVID-19 pandemic. “Me and Cole met on a Zoom meditation group. Very random, yes,” she revealed to People in April 2021. “Zoom, you’ve got to love it.” When asked by the publication what made them click, she replied that he was “kind of perfect for me.”
“I am [happy]. I really am,” Hudgens continued. “I think that it’s also so important to stay grateful for everything that you have in life. I’ve been making that a priority, and I feel like it’s just been making magic happen all the more.”
The couple were first spotted in November 2020 on a dinner date in Los Angeles at the Canyon Country Store. Hudgens confirmed their relationship a few months later via Instagram on Valentine’s Day 2021. They went on to make their red carpet debut in November 2021 at the Tick, Tick … Boom! premiere.
Hudgens and Tucker officially tied the knot in Tulum, Mexico, in December 2023. The baseball star proposed to her a year prior with an emerald-cut ring. “I was extremely surprised,” Hudgens told People of the proposal in March 2023. “We had definitely talked about it, but I did not expect it to happen the way that it happened and the moment that it happened. It definitely caught me off guard and I was bawling my eyes out.”
Tucker is a professional baseball player who plays shortstop for the Seattle Mariners. He was formerly with the Pittsburgh Pirates, who drafted him in the first round of the 2014 MLB draft. He made his MLB debut with the team in 2019 and has also played for the Colorado Rockies.
“I feel like I experienced so many emotions with the Pirates,” Tucker told AZ Central in June 2022. “I was a 17-year-old high school senior and I got drafted by them, and I got to the big leagues with them, and I had success with them. So many great people there, I’m really humbled for all of it, appreciative of all of it.”
Cole’s younger brother, Carson Tucker, is also a professional baseball player. He was a first-round pick shortstop in 2020 and was drafted by the Cleveland Indians, according to MLB. “Like, Carson Tucker’s my favorite player, and I’m rooting for him and pulling for him and following his every move,” Cole told the site. “I’m just trying to be as much a part of the process as I can and putting my big-brother hat on and also putting my baseball-player hat on, just because I have a lot of experience with the process.”
Hudgens recently spoke on the podcast She Pivots earlier this week about pregnancy rumors, specifically calling out photos of her on a bachelorette getaway with her girlfriends in October 2023. “I literally just had a run-in with the public taking control over their opinion of me in a way that was disrespectful,” she said on the podcast. “And I was like, ‘That is so rude.’ I’m sorry I don’t wear Spanx every day and, like, am a real woman and have a real body.”
The actress added that she thinks there’s “nothing wrong about being pregnant, obviously” and said she “can’t wait for the day.” Now, the newlyweds are expecting their first baby together.
