WWE Crown Jewel 2024 is shaping up to be an exciting premium live event, with a nice balance of title defenses and exciting grudge matches.

That being said, the most intriguing addition are the Crown Jewel Championship matches, which see the top men and women of Raw and SmackDown going head-to-head for the titles.
However, while Gunther and Cody Rhodes and Nia Jax and Liv Morgan will battle for the Men’s and Women’s belts respectively, they won’t be taking those belts home with them.
In the kickoff show for WWE Crown Jewel 2024, WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H revealed that whoever wins the Crown Jewel Championship won’t be taking the belts home.
“Yeah, these titles will stay here in Saudi Arabia, right here inside the WWE Experience,” Triple H said. “So all of you will be able to come here and go inside the vault and see these actual titles on display.”
This marks a massive break from professional wrestling tradition, where carrying a title belt is seen as a massive career milestone and a status symbol inside a promotion.
That being said, Triple H was sure to let fans know that the winners won’t be going home empty handed.
“The Crown Jewel Champions, whoever that is after tomorrow night, will walk away with a massive ring, like a Super Bowl ring, that shows to the world that they are the one true champion in WWE,” Triple H explained.
“And as this is an annual event, we’ll see how many rings people can collect over the years.”

While the idea of having a Super Bowl-style championship is intriguing, there are a few issues with this idea in a professional wrestling setting.
Part of the joy of professional wrestling is the spectacle, and a ring simply doesn’t stand out as much as a giant, gold belt, even if it is a “MASSIVE championship ring.”
Additionally, given that Triple H has been trending more toward longer World Title reigns, it’s likely that the matchups could be the same for a while.
Finally, part of the fun of a championship in professional wrestling is getting to see them defended on a regular basis. It’s the reason so many fans get upset when a lengthy championship reign only has a few challenges.

In the end, it feels like these championships, much like the Greatest Royal Rumble or the Andre the Giant Battle Royal, isn’t going to be anything of substance. That being said, it will be great seeing some of the best wrestlers in WWE have dynamic matches.
