A woman’s “2014 Tumblr” party, to which all her friends arrived in outfits inspired by the year’s biggest trends, has left viewers online in stitches.
The woman, known online as @timi_post, captured the nostalgia-filled event and shared it to TikTok where it has taken the internet by storm, amassing more than 2.3 million views since it was posted on July 1.
The hilariously accurate homage to the iconic Tumblr era, with references to the distinctive style choices, memes, and pop culture hits that defined the early 2010s, has led to plenty of laughter and joy.
Viewers can see the creator’s meticulously decorated home, adorned with posters of One Direction, Lana Del Rey, Lorde, and Marina and The Diamonds, ahead of the party. Her shelves feature Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran’s albums from the year, alongside John Green’s novel The Fault in Our Stars, a book that not only topped bestseller lists but was also adapted into a hit film starring Shailene Woodley in 2014.

The delightful journey back in time continues, as the camera moves on to capture the creator’s friends, each dressed head to toe in outfits that encapsulate the Tumblr era’s diverse fashion trends. Some participants showcase the neo-grunge style that was popular on Tumblr, complete with band T-shirts, flannel shirts, and Doc Martens. Others opt for bold shades, neon colors, and prints, accentuated by snapbacks, creating a vibrant contrast.
Accessories like iPods with wired headphones and flower crowns underline the group’s attention to detail, as do the friends’ playful poses and dance moves, reminiscent of the viral hipster photos and dance crazes that dominated Tumblr feeds during the platform’s heyday.
TikTok Users React
Though TikTok is a younger platform than Tumblr, its users have been left in hysterics by the video. Some have taken to the comments section to share their appreciation of the precision with which the party recreated the early 2010s Tumblr aesthetic, others have mentioned how much the playful walk down memory lane made them reminisce.
