Woman Walking Home Finds Unexpected Driveway Message: ‘Made My Heart Warm’

A woman who was walking home in the dark when something suddenly caught her attention has shared her adorable discovery with the world.

Karolina Grzybowska, 23, was walking through a neighborhood in Cork, Ireland, when a splash of color caught her eye: a message written alongside a child’s artwork on a driveway in chalk.

“I actually said ‘aww’ out loud and smiled,” Grzybowska told Newsweek. “I love noticing little things like that during my walks. I’m always taking photos of anything that makes me feel something special.”

The “sweet message”, scribbled on the concrete in chalk of all different colors, bore the words: “Welcome home Daddy!”

Alongside childish drawings of hearts and colorful buildings were the sweetly misspelled phrases: “How was Scotlant? We mist you Daddy.”

Grzybowska shared the sweet moment with Reddit’s Cork subreddit, saying she “found this adorable and I just want to share it with ye.”

“What a lucky man,” one commenter said of the father, as one replied: “But also clearly a great parent.”

“Made me smile, thanks,” another user told Grzybowska.

And a fourth joked: “Need to tell my kids to up their game.”

College graduate Grzybowska told Newsweek how the message moved her emotionally, saying her “heart felt so warm thinking of how happy the kids must have been making it, and how their dad must have felt when he saw it after his trip.”

She regularly travels and explores the world around her, photographing small things that make her happy, and started the Instagram page @rzevtuq to share them with people “since my phone storage is always running out.”

Cork is the Republic of Ireland’s biggest county and second-largest city after the capital of Dublin. It’s hugely popular with tourists, steeped in history, being home to the famous Blarney Stone, and the final stop of the doomed Titanic.

“I think it’s good to notice the real world around us, even if it’s just during a short walk from the bus stop to home,” Grzybowska told Newsweek.

“Especially now, with Christmas coming, the streets will be full of pretty lights and decorations!”
