A viral TikTok video has revealed how a Jack Russell dog rescued from the street “tricked” his rescuer with an unexpected transformation.
When Garbonzo Bean was first found on the streets, he was a sad, scared little dog. His rescuer, a dedicated member of the community organization Strays and Gays, couldn’t help but take him in.
“I rescued a sad little dog from the street, and he tricked me,” she said in the text overlay of the video. “He was so scared and pitiful at first. I named him Garbonzo Bean, and he’s definitely a bean.”
It didn’t take long for the pup’s true personality to shine through, and in the viral video on TikTok his rescuer shared footage of him jumping and running around with buckets of energy.
“He acts like a little espresso bean,” joked the poster in the video.
Strays and Gays is a community operation that fosters and finds homes for dogs in need from South Georgia.
His rescuer said: “He’s definitely the most hype dog we’ve ever rescued!”
Newsweek reached out to Strays and Gays via email for comment.
With more than 650,000 views, comments have poured in from people who loved seeing Garbonzo Bean’s transformation.
“It’s that Jack Russell energy!” one commenter said.
Jack Russell terriers are very energetic dogs that require a lot of exercise, so it is little surprise that young Garbonzo Bean is enjoying plenty of playtime now that he has come out of his shell.
Another commenter said that his transformation was likely a result of feeling comfortable since being rescued.
“Now he is safe and happy he can be his true little self,” they wrote.
Another viewer of the video was delighted to see the transformation in the dog.
“There’s nothing like watching a rescue dog come out of their scared shell over time. It’s just wonderful,” they wrote.
Garbonzo Bean joins a long list of rescue animals who have experienced incredible transformations after finding their forever homes. These include a cat named Gucci, who had a serious “glow up” after adoption, and a dog named Darcie, who went from shy pup to serious “chatterbox” in just two weeks.
