MATT Peet admits he understands why people would want Wigan to lose in Super League’s Play-Offs.

In fact, in the 28 years of the competition there have only ever been four winners – Wigan, St Helens, Leeds and Bradford.
So the man looking to make history and guide his club to a quadruple gets why people would like Leigh, Warrington or Hull KR to clinch glory.
Peet said: “I do think there’s a want in the game for a new winner, which we understand and accept. We embrace it.
“There’s probably is a feeling that anyone but us would be good for the game. That’s OK.
“It’s brilliant for us that we’ve got experience but also there could be momentum around the game against us as well.
“That’s the thing in sport, there’s always a team that’s been there before – a champion and a challenger. There’s always a story and we’ve been there as newcomers.
“Each club that’s left comes with a great story and reason why they want to be and could be champions. That’s brilliant for the sport.
“Every team has to win it for the first time. We hadn’t done it for a while last year but managed to do it.
“Winning Super League is a massive ask. It’s a tough year, so whoever wins it will be proud and we’re no different.”
Wigan face neighbours Leigh in the biggest Battle of the Borough clash possible, Saturday’s semi-final.

But Peet is in no doubt, his side will have to silence one of the world’s best in Leopards’ hooker Edwin Ipape.
He added: “He’s brilliant. I think he’s an outstanding player.
“From the first time people watch him, you see the physicality he brings in defence. He’s also all action and a constant threat.
“I think he’s as good as anything knocking around at hooker on both sides of the world.”
