Wheel of Fortune is back and better than ever? Maybe not. According to some fans of the game show, they are not fond of some of the changes to the show’s set.
Ryan Seacrest made his debut on Wheel on Monday, September 9, taking over the iconic role from former host Pat Sajak after 41 seasons. While many fans enjoyed Seacrest’s presence behind the wheel, others couldn’t get past the noticeably different set on the show, complete with new graphics and all.
“I get that Wheel of Fortune replaced Pat Sajak because he retired, but why did they have to change the entire set?! ” noted one user, while another stated, “WTF DID THEY DO TO WHEEL OF FORTUNE???? THE DECIMATED MY BABY.” A third fan declared, “These graphics are so terrible 😕 makes it feel so cheap.”
While the wheel and letter board both looked relatively the same, the background and graphics themselves looked vastly different. Instead of the usual bright tv screen behind the contestants (which often shows off the various prizes that can be won), neon wheel like shapes were in its place. The set overall had a blue hue to it, and circular graphics played behind Seacrest as he talked.
Besides the obvious changes to the look of the show, many fans had positive reviews for Seacrest’s first day on the job. “So far Ryan Seacrest is doing a great job hosting,” said one fan. Another commented on their excitement, saying, “Ryan Seacrest did a fabulous job on Wheel of Fortune! Excited for this new era 😊.” Another noticed the comparison between Seacrest and Sajak, saying, “Watching new Wheel of Fortune host Ryan Seacrest – never noticed before, but his voice actually sounds a lot like Pat Sajak’s!”
Fans of Sajak can watch him one more time on the upcoming season of Celebrity Wheel of Fortune, which is set to premiere on Monday, Oct. 7, at 8/7c.
