Hoda Kotb got candid about why she is no longer seeing the mystery man that her Today co-host Jenna Bush Hager set her up with.
On Jamie Kern Lima’s most recent podcast episode, Hoda Kotb: It’s Never Too Late... the mother of two opened up about why the relationship is “tabled” after three dates.
“This person, who’s a lovely human being, has a lot of kind of things that are being worked out,” the journalist shared. She added that she is looking for more “simplicity.”
The New York Times bestselling author admits that she “was very much a fixer in life,” but now is “pausing that instinct.”
However, Kotb, 60, made it clear that there is no awkwardness between the pair.
“That has been tabled beautifully, like nothing funky, all good,” she told the 47-year-old podcast host. “He’s very cute by the way, extremely handsome,” she quipped.
The Dateline alum said she has not met anyone new yet and only wants a man who is an “addition” to her life, not one who is “subtracting” anything.
“When I kind of map my days out and see what free time do I really have it’s so limited that you want to make sure that when you have it that you’re spending it with someone who’s in the addition business of your life,” Kotb noted.
Back in May, Kotb went on the Drew Barrymore Show and shared that she was planning on going on a third date with this mystery man.
In response to Barrymore asking what made her want to go on this third date, Kotb said, “I think it was just kind of the fun of talking about something that wasn’t kids and wasn’t work it was just life and I miss that.”
The award-winning journalist was previously engaged to Joel Schiffman, whom she shares her two adopted daughters with. The pair split in December 2021.
In a separate podcast interview with Lima last week, Kotb talked about her ex-fiance.
“Sometimes two great human beings together isn’t quite enough to make it work,” Kotb confessed.
