Selena Gomez announced her engagement to the record producer in an Instagram post. “forever starts now…,” she captioned the post of her big diamond ring, accompanied with a picture of the two on a Taco Bell picnic. Many celebrities congratulated the couple on social media. Taylor Swift left a comment on Selena Gomez’s picture of her engagement ring writing, “yes I will be the flower girl.” Jennifer Aniston wrote, “HONEY!! Congratulations sweet mama! ❤️💫.” Gordon Ramsay, who appeared on Selena’s Max series Selena + Chef, wrote “Congratulations to you both it must be the cooking ❤️❤️❤️.”
Though it was all publicly posted in December, some people within the “Single Soon” singer and Blanco’s inner circle might have been given a heads-up way in advance.

According to a source to DailyMail, Benny Blanco actually popped the question back in August 2024, but it coincided with an important date for a very famous ex. “They became engaged in August and Selena didn’t want her engagement to be tied to Bieber in any way,” the insider said, referring to Justin Bieber‘s wife Hailey giving birth to their baby boy Jack. “They knew it would.”
The insider continued, “Selena knew that there would be stories accusing her of getting engaged to turn attention away from Justin’s baby, or that people would claim that she did this to one-up him.”
Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez famously dated on and off from 2010 to 2018. Justin married Hailey Baldwin in September 2018. The couple shared the baby news on August 23, 2024, with Justin posting a heartwarming close-up of their newborn’s tiny foot on Instagram.
