Investigators have “reason to believe” that the person of interest in the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson has left New York City, according to police commissioner Jessica Tisch. Tisch said today police are processing a “tremendous amount of evidence” which includes fingerprints and DNA evidence, as well as surveillance footage. Thompson was gunned down at about 6.45 a.m. on Wednesday near the Hilton Midtown in what the New York Police Department (NYPD) said was likely to have been “a premeditated, preplanned, targeted attack.” Newly released surveillance footage, obtained by Newsweek, showed the suspect may have dumped something on a pile of trash bags before shooting the UnitedHealthcare chief. The dumped object may hold vital DNA evidence about the killer’s identity.
