Triston Casas, Roman Anthony Flash Red Sox Future On Rehab Home Run

WORCESTER, Mass. — Tuesday night at Polar Park already marked a nod to the future for the Boston Red Sox as the WooSox prepared for the Triple-A welcome of Marcelo Mayer, Roman Anthony and Kyle Teel.

It didn’t take long for those in attendance to take in a sight that could occur often at Fenway Park for years to come.

In the first inning against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, Anthony doubled in his first Triple-A at-bat. Two batters later, Red Sox first baseman stepped to the plate as he continues a rehab assignment for a rib injury that’s sidelined him from MLB since April 20.

Casas wasted no time making an impact, demolishing a two-run home run over the Worcester Wall as he and Anthony brought in the first two runs of the night for the WooSox.

That’s great progress for Casas, who had roped a few doubles thus far with Worcester and offers a major re-addition as he prepares to return to the Red Sox with a deadline of Aug. 19 on this assignment.

Casas driving in Anthony could become the norm for the Red Sox with Boston truly starting to see the potential of its young core before the organization’s eyes.
