The professional wrestling world was shaken when Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson returned to WWE at Bad Blood 2024.
Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns had successfully defeated the new Bloodline with the help of a returning Jimmy Uso.
However, their celebration was swiftly interrupted by the return of The Final Boss.
The Rock walked out from the Titantron, staring at the ring. He counted to three with his fingers, cut his own throat, and quickly left.
This has prompted speculation about The Rock’s future with the company and what exactly he was counting. Was he threatening the three people in the ring? Or was he potentially hinting at a future match against Rhodes and Reigns?
There’s no way that anyone knows for sure. However, it appears that the latter option is “on the table,” according to WrestleTalk via its live Q&A with WrestleCotes and Bill Apter.
“My thought is it signifies that’s where we’re going for WrestleMania,” WrestleVotes said. “1-2-3 as in Triple Threat match. Yeah, I can tell you that’s on the table.”
“I don’t know for sure if it’s been finalized in any way. It’s October 8. I doubt it’s been finalized, but that idea has been floated and I think it makes the most sense for the company to get those three guys in the ring.”
While a Triple Threat match between Rhodes, Reigns, and The Rock would be a marquee event, this is still only a possibility. As was seen with WrestleMania 40, any match could change in a moment, even the main event.

Even Rhodes doesn’t necessarily see himself having to deal with any more Bloodline drama in the near future.
“In terms of where I’d like to get to by Wrestlemania, I would think that Roman Reigns will step in start handling is own Bloodline business, and allow me to handle business elsewhere,” Rhodes said, per the Manchester Evening News.
This seemingly alludes to the fact that the Bloodline is Reigns’ problem. Because of this, it’s more likely that Roman and The Rock will face each other alone while Rhodes can focus on feuding with other wrestlers, like Seth Rollins, Randy Orton, or Kevin Owens.
Right now, it’s an exciting time for WWE. While the Bloodline is exciting, it doesn’t need to be in the WWE Title picture to be exciting. After WrestleMania 41? Who knows.
