THE Golden Bachelorette’s Guy Gansert has broken his silence on his ex’s restraining order request after an ‘extremely difficult’ time.
It comes just days after The U.S Sun exclusively revealed that he had been accused of domestic violence in a restraining order request filed in 2021.
According to court records, Guy, 66, “physically tried to threaten” a former partner three years ago after they had split up.
The TV star has since taken to Instagram to speak out about the matter.
GUY’S SAY
Guy wrote on his page: “I would like to respond to articles about a personal matter from 2021.
“This was an unfortunate situation that occurred during an incredibly stressful time for me and my former spouse and was ultimately resolved when she voluntary dismissed her request for a protective order.
“Together we crafted a resolution that was agreeable to both parties.
“My ex-wife and I recently asked the court to seal her application for the protective order as we had hoped to maintain privacy for our family.
“But, I know that with being in the public eye comes responsibility.
“My ex-wife and I were married for 34 years and in that time had four children who we raised together and deeply love.
“They are my greatest accomplishment.
“My divorce was extremely difficult for me and led to a very low point in my life and as a result I acted in a way that does not represent who I am.
“The past few years have caused me to conduct a deep personal evaluation, and I will always continue to work to improve myself.
“I am so appreciative of The Golden Bachelorette and Bachelor Nation as well as my family, who have been exceptionally supportive during the most difficult times of my life.
“I am eternally grateful for them.”
WHAT HAPPENED
After an alleged encounter with Guy back in October 2021, a woman filed for a “protection order against domestic violence”.
The ex claimed that she was leaving the gym and getting into the car with a female friend when Guy approached them.
After noticing she claims that he had placed something under the vehicle, he began to “disparage” her.
The ex claimed in the documents: After disparaging me for some time and my now-boyfriend, he pointed his finger like a gun then ‘shot’ at me.
“He motioned like he was going to shoot me with his hand shaped like a pistol.”
She decided to file a restraining order, instead of calling the police.
The ex also claimed that Guy was sending her “stacks of text messages” months prior.
The texts, which he allegedly began sending in July 2021, were about “trying to reconcile” – but she said he would then “flip to anger.”
“If needed, I can provide text messages and a video of adverse party trespassing on my property when he was aware I was not home,” the ex wrote.
The exes were supposed to meet in November that year to have a hearing in regards to the protective order.
However Guy’s ex dismissed it – and they agreed on a “no-contact agreement”.
Last month Guy and his ex filed a joint emergency motion to seal the protective order records.
In filings obtained by The U.S Sun, the emergency room doctor said that he “participated in a nationally syndicated television show in July and August of 2024”.
On October 4, the motion to seal the records was denied because the parties’ motion “did not present any compelling legal authority” to support the rule granting the relief.
Guy did not respond to The U.S Sun’s call for comment earlier this week.
Guy shot to fame on this year’s series of ABC’s The Golden Bachelorette.
The show, which has already had four episodes, follows 24 senior men trying to win over Joan Vassos’ heart.
Filming for the programme began in July this year in LA.
The new found reality star has been sharing his journey on Instagram with his 2K followers.
Guy said in a post yesterday: “The fun continues as I have the opportunity to spend more time with this wonderful lady who has a Heart of Gold 💛. You too will start to fall for Joan.”
