Christina Haack and Tarek El Moussa are back together on HGTV, but this time, they will be facing off against each other in the competition series The Flip Off.
The network has set Wednesday, January 29 at 8 p.m. ET as the premiere date for the show and released a preview that gives a sneak peek into the real-life drama behind the scenes.
Amid filming of the series, Haack announced her separation from husband Josh Hall, and cameras caught the moment the interior designer broke down telling her ex-husband, El Moussa.
The scene sees El Moussa visiting Haack in her home and asking her if she’s good.
“No, Josh and I officially split up,” Haack says. “We had a blow up… middle fingers in my face. Things with Josh have been bad for a long time.”
Haack, who has two kids with El Moussa, told him that her kids asked her to leave Hall, “They told me he’s not nice to me. Why would I stick around?”
“I feel like I’m in a tornado all the time and I just can’t get out of it,” Haack added before breaking down in tears and saying, “Everything since like 2016 has been so hard and so horrible. It’s really taken a really bad toll on me.”
Haack and El Moussa split up in 2016 but continued to appear on HGTV’s Flip or Flop until the show ended in 2022 due to differences between the former couple. El Moussa married Selling Sunset alum Heather Rae and welcomed a a baby in 2023. Haack married car enthusiast and TV host Ant Anstead in 2018 and welcomed a son, but the couple split in 2020. Haack would marry Hall in 2021 before their split earlier this year.
The Flip Off was set to bring together Haack and El Moussa alongside their respective spouses, Heather and Hall, competing against each other flipping houses. However, HGTV confirms that “a sudden life change will bring a shocking twist. With even more to prove on her own, Christina will turn to her trusted team, stopping at nothing to silence Tarek’s endless bragging and beat him at his own flipping game.”
Guest judges set to appear on The Flip Off include The Real Housewives of Orange County star Heather Dubrow, Haack and El Moussa’s moms Dominique and Laurie, Ant Anstead, Izzy Battres, Jeff Lawrence, and Jeff Lewis.
In the supersized two-hour premiere episode, Tarek will throw down the gauntlet on the soccer field, initiating the competition with Christina. They’ll formulate the rules of the game, beginning with only one week to find and purchase their flip homes. Soon after a tumultuous house hunt, Christina will drop an emotional bombshell on Tarek when she reveals she’s getting divorced and wishes to continue the competition solo. She’ll appeal to Tarek and Heather for more time to complete the kitchen renovations, which will be judged by tastemaker Heather Dubrow, and offer to give them a sneak peek of her property.
