Houston Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans said that wide receiver Tank Dell’s injury against the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday was “significant.”
Ryans also said that Dell will be staying overnight at University of Kansas Hospital, which is where he was transported after taking an ambulance there following the knee injury.
“Tank has a significant knee injury and he will be staying here in Kansas City overnight and getting further evaluations and we’ll get an update tomorrow,” Ryans said.
Dell suffered the injury after securing a leaping touchdown grab on a deep ball in the end zone during the third quarter. As he was making the catch, Houston wideout Jacob Wayne collided with the Chiefs defender and pummeled into Dell’s legs.
Dell was lying on the field for an extended period before having to be carted away.
His teammates surrounded him during this moment and quarterback C.J. Stroud was seen crying in devastation.
“All of our thoughts and prayers are with Tank right now. You guys have seen what he means to our entire team. It hurts to see him go down like that. He was having a fantastic game, playing really well for us. He was in a really great spot. We just want to keep him in our thoughts and prayers right now.”
