TERRY Bradshaw was furious with the New England Patriots’ drastic decision just five weeks into the season.
The Fox NFL Sunday star tore into the Patriots in a brutal rant – before making a confusing reference.
New England made the decision last week to start rookie quarterback Drake Maye.
The No. 3 overall pick in this year’s draft was thrust into the action after a 1-4 start to the season.
Veteran Jacoby Brissett was the starter under center but struggled behind New England’s banged up offensive line.
And Maye made his first start in Sunday’s defeat by the Houston Texans.
Speaking before the game on Fox NFL Sunday, Bradshaw raged, “This is a terrible move.
“Brissett was doing everything he could to keep that thing going but that’s a horrible offensive line.”
The former Pittsburgh Steelers legend then confused his co-stars as he made a musical reference.
“The one key word is pressure,” he said.
“Freddie Mercury, remember the song? You remember the song Under Pressure?”
After finally receiving an acknowledgement from host Curt Menefee, Bradshaw continued.
He said, “Drake Maye will be under pressure – this is a bad move.
“Five different offensive line combinations already and your starting center Mark Andrews has been out.
“This is a terrible idea.
“Jacoby Brissett deserved to keep starting and let this kid sit.”
Howie Long then accused Bradshaw of practising his lines in the mirror last night, to the laughter of his co-stars.
The original Tom Brady
Tom Brady was left lost for words after Terry Bradshaw admitted he used his identity.
Host Curt Menefee drew Brady’s attention to a 1983 newspaper report that a man called Thomas Brady underwent surgery.
That was actually Bradshaw while he was still in his playing days with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Bradshaw won four Super Bowls in his 13-year career under center in Pittsburgh.
The former Steelers quarterback explained, “When I checked in they said ‘you’re not going to get checked in under your name because you’ll get hassled, what do you want to go under?’
“I said, ‘Put me under Thomas Brady.’
“That’s how it happened.”
But Bradshaw hit back, “Howie you’re not going to believe this – I just came up with that.”
Maye finished with 20 passes from 33 attempts Sunday.
He threw three touchdown passes but also had two interceptions.
The Patriots were beaten 41-21 by the Houston Texans to fall to 1-5 this season.
They travel to London to take on the 1-5 Jacksonville Jaguars at Wembley Stadium next Sunday.
