Terence Crawford Showing Interest In Conor McGregor Fight

Terence Crawford posted on social media a message to inactive former UFC champion Conor McGregor that he’s “getting back on the mat.”

Crawford, 37, and McGregor reportedly recently discussed a two-fight deal, with one fight in the boxing ring and the other in an MMA match. However, Crawford Rejected the deal, choosing not to pursue it despite the huge money the two fights would bring in.

Now, Crawford may have changed his mind after thinking it over. In his social media post, he let the wealthy 36-year-old McGregor know that he’s back on the [wrestling] mat, working out.

It could be that Crawford realizes how much dough he can make fighting McGregor and likes that idea more than risking his neck fighting the young 154-pounders for less money in boxing. McGregor hasn’t completed in MMA since 2021, losing his last two matches.

He hasn’t won a fight in that sport since 2020, and some believe McGregor has lost his hunger due to the mega-wealth he’s accumulated from his fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2017.

Crawford would make less money fighting McGregor than what Mayweather bankrolled. He reportedly made $280 million, but that was when McGregor was at the top of his fame. McGregor is now viewed as an entrepreneur.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, McGregor’s fortune is estimated at $200 million. If he fights Crawford, that could jump considerably, especially if the Saudis show interest in financing those two matches.

“I’m here working. I’m getting back on the mat. Hey, Conor. I’m getting back on the mat. Stay tuned, baby,” said Terence Crawford on social media, sending a message to former UFC champion Conor McGregor.

If Crawford sticks with boxing, he’ll likely lose soon to one of the 154-lb fighters, like Sebastian Fundora or Tim Tszyu. He barely won his debut at junior middleweight on August 3rd against Israil Madrimov.
