UTAH Jazz second-year power forward Taylor Hendricks suffered a brutal, non-contact leg injury during Monday’s game versus the Dallas Mavericks.
The sequence came during the Mavericks’ 110-102 home win.
Halfway through the third quarter, Jazz point guard Jordan Clarkson came up with the rebound on a Luka Doncic missed field goal.
Utah was running the running floor when Hendricks, who was in the right lane, collapsed ahead of the baseline.
Hendricks’ right leg gave out after attempting to slow down while running up the court, and he fell to the floor.
The 20-year-old was quickly placed on a stretcher and taken out of the game.
Unfortunately, the Jazz revealed after the game that Hendricks suffered a fractured right fibula and dislocated ankle.
ESPN reported that Hendricks will miss the rest of the season.
“Everybody on our team and really in our organization who’s traveling with us went through that room to see him just now,” Utah coach Will Hardy told reporters after the game.
“I’ll sit down and have a longer conversation at some point in the near future.
“I know he’s processing a lot right now.
“I’m sure he’s getting a lot of messages from family and loved ones.
“We’re going to do our best as a group to just continue to show him and his family some love and support during this.”
Hendricks scored two points and recorded three rebounds in 21 minutes while shooting 0-for-5.
The Jazz drafted him with the No. 9 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft.
Hendricks’ freshman collegiate season in 2022 saw him average 15.1 points, 7 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game.
In his rookie season, Hendricks averaged 7.3 points and 4.6 rebounds in 40 games, with 23 starts.
He started all three games for Utah this year.
In his first two starts, Hendricks averaged 6 points and 6 rebounds.
The Jazz had recently exercised his third-year rookie scale option for the 2025-26 season.
Utah will face the Sacramento Kings on Thursday as they seek their first win of the still-young campaign.
