The supermarket chain confirmed in July that it would be shuttering 32 locations nationwide by the end of 2024, per a press release.

At least 10 of the 32 stores were identified in New Jersey.

Residents in The Garden State will have until November 2 at the latest to get groceries before the locations are gone for good, according to Stop & Shop.

Some could close before the November 2 mark, and one already has.

A store in Philipsburg, about 60 miles west of Newark, shut its doors last week after its closing date was moved up to October 23, and then September 9, per TAPinto.

Managers at the location told the outlet that it was running out of food and other merchandise faster than expected.

Customers should be wary of the same potential situation at the other nine remaining stores.

Some are already bracing themselves for the other nine stores to shutter.

MIXED FEELINGS

“I’m surprised it lasted this long with Target next door and Walmart directly across the street,” wrote a Stop & Shop customer in a post on Facebook about one of the closing nine locations.

Another person said they were “sad” about the closures and “always go” to their nearest Stop & Shop.

Others were even satisfied with the supermarket’s departure.

“Good riddance,” a frustrated shopper wrote.

Stop & Shop has confirmed that all employees at the closing nine stores across New Jersey can transfer within the company.

With the shutdowns, the chain will still have 48 stores across New Jersey, per its website.
