The Gators were dominated on both sides of the ball, being outgained in total yards 529-261.

It was the worst loss to the program since 2002.

Florida continued its struggles under Napier, who is 11-15 in two-plus seasons with the school.

The 45-year-old has led his team to six straight losses and 11 of his last 14 games against power-conference opponents.

Fans have called for Napier’s firing but it would come with an astounding cost.

Front Office Sports released a video on TikTok that revealed Florida would lose $27 million if they bought out Napier.

Napier is signed through 2028 on a deal he first penned in 2021 worth $51.8 million.

He would be given 85% of his salary each year remaining on his contract.

Napier received $7.1 million during his first season and obtained an increase of $100,00 last fall despite a 6-7 finish.

The veteran head coach hasn’t led Florida to a winning season yet.

If Napier is fired before the end of his deal, the contract states that Florida will have to pay him 50% of the total money owed within 30 days of his firing.

Questions about Napier’s future will not go away, as Florida will have the toughest schedule in the school’s history.

“It is what it is. If you play for the New York Giants and you get beat by a couple scores and you look sloppy, you’re going to get criticized,” Napier said about the criticisms surrounding his coaching.

“Look, we have a lot of football left to play and there’ll be a time hopefully here if we can right the ship here that we’ll be combatting the other side of the spectrum.”

Florida doesn’t have a history of firing head coaches in September.

The last four Gators coaches were fired until at least late October.

Florida will take on unranked Stamford on Saturday.

The Gators will then play against Texas A&M the following week.
