BOXING fans have been left baffled by a “bizarre” Sky Sports apology during Liam Gallagher’s Wembley set.
The Oasis star took to the stage before Anthony Joshua’s IBF showdown with Daniel Dubois.
Liam and his brother Noel are reforming Oasis next year after 15 years on hiatus.
The 52-year-old, performing on his birthday, belted out 90s classics Rock ‘n’ Roll Star, Supersonic and Cigarettes & Alcohol in the three-song set.
Gallagher’s shaky performance proved a mixed bag with fans, with some cruelly asking if it was a “tribute act.”
But a Sky Sports apology for “strong language” from the notoriously potty-mouthed frontman was met with incredulity from fight fans.
The network put out the apology after Gallagher swore between songs.
One baffled fan wrote on X: “Sky Sports apologising for Liam Gallagher’s ‘strong language’ at 9:30pm at an event where we’re watching people punch each other repeatedly in the head…”
Another said: “Hi @SkySportsBoxing you really don’t need to apologise for the strong language when your audience is watching @liamgallagher before a boxing match at 9:30pm on pay per view TV.”
A third joked: “Should apologise for the singing. Good luck to anybody that bought Oasis tickets.”

While another added: “If you’re offended by Liam Gallagher swearing at 9.30 on a Saturday night at the boxing – you’re on the wrong channel.”
But a fifth countered: “Sky have done that for DECADES. DAZN are doing it because it’s a condition of the broadcasting licence.”
Liam’s short set comes as the Manchester native looks set to receive a knockout payday ahead of next year’s tour.
The 17-date tour caused Ticketmaster to crash as over 14million people flocked to the site to nab seats – with the stadium shows selling out within hours.
Saturday night’s fight from Wembley is the biggest live boxing event in British history.
