Dressed in a black top with camo trousers the Turkish suspect was also thought to have been wearing a stab-proof vest.

A “black sun” symbol which is made up of several Nazi swastikas was visible on his chest, local news sites claimed.

Turkish media Eskisehir Durum reported: “The attacker was dressed like a person in a game, with an axe at his waist, wearing a bulletproof vest and a helmet, his face masked.”

He was seen running past the front of the mosque before going on to storm a park, train station and the streets of Eskisehir.

No words are heard during the frenzied attacks just the man’s heavy breathing.

Many of those injured were said to have been elderly men sitting outside the mosque at a tea garden who were hit in heir torso, neck or backs.
