Her Storm team were eliminated from the WNBA playoffs in the first round by the Las Vegas Aces.

Williams, 28, was only under contract in Seattle until the end of this season.

And she has made the decision to quit the American league to play in Europe instead.

Williams will play in Turkey for Istanbul-based team Fenerbahce.

She has previously played in Italy, Hungary and France.

The 28-year-old played 14 times in the WNBA during the 2024 season.

She averaged 10.3 points per game in 12 regular-season games.

And Williams put up 14 points and 20 points in the two playoff defeats by the Aces last month.

She hinted in a TikTok video that she could remain overseas for the rest of her playing days.

Williams was born in Reno, Nevada and holds both American and French citizenship.

Her decision to leave the WNBA came with plenty of controversy.

Last month she refuted a statement made by WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert.

The boss claimed that players can earn up to $700,000 a season in the WNBA.

But Williams hit back, “Our commissioner talked about us being able to make $700,000.

” That’s actually not true at all. There’s not one player who makes that.”

“We were promised team marketing agreements and league marketing agreements, but they’ve fallen quite short.

“So it’s still not enough for us international players to want to stay here. And that’s a choice of the players.

“If I make a choice to make more money, whatever, and then teams are mad that I don’t come back, but that’s how it is.”

A Caitlin Clark fan then claimed that the rookie has earned more than $700,000 this season.

“Clark makes $70,000 in the WNBA,” Williams responded.

“So I know all these Caitlin Clark fans, whatever, like ‘Caitlin Clark makes $700,000,’ That’s off of endorsements.”
