Reason For Bills’ Von Miller Being Suspended For Four Games Revealed: Report

The NFL suspended Buffalo Bills linebacker Von Miller for four games without pay on Tuesday for violating the league’s personal conduct policy. Miller was reportedly suspended for allegedly assaulting his pregnant girlfriend in Nov. 2023, per Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN. The NFL has not confirmed the official reason for his suspension.

Per Getzenberg, Miller’s girlfriend had called the police late last November after he allegedly assaulted her, and was seen to have wounds on multiple places of her body, including her neck. Miller allegedly put both of his hands around her neck and tried to shove her.

Miller turned himself in after the Dallas Police Department issued an arrest warrant for him. Miller defended himself against the allegations last December on social media and called the accusations false.

“Honestly, I wasn’t on social media before and definitely not on social media now,” Miller said last December, via Getzenberg. “But from the things that have been brought to my attention, everything is false. And I would love to sit here and say, ‘Y’all know me!’ But it’s not, this is not that type of situation because domestic violence really happens around the world — for men and women. And it’s a serious situation so I would not pull that card.”

Miller did not miss any games last season because of the arrest and played for the Bills in both of their playoff games.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell reportedly said in March that the NFL did consider putting Miller on the exempt list, but did not feel they had enough facts to make that decision at the time.

Miller will now miss the Bills’ next four games, and first be eligible to return when the Bills face the Miami Dolphins on Nov. 3. Miller will miss games against the Houston Texans, New York Jets, Tennessee Titans, and Seattle Seahawks before he is able to return to play.

Miller was previously accused of assaulting his girlfriend in 2021, but no charges were filed. He was arrested in 2013 for a failure to appear warrant. Miller has also been suspended before, missing six games during the 2013 season with the Denver Broncos for his usage of performance-enhancing drugs.

The 35-year-old former Super Bowl MVP is in his third season with the Bills. He has five tackles and three sacks on the season.
