Rams’ Puka Nacua Given Big Update on Week 9 Playing Status

After a rough start to the 2024 NFL Season, the Los Angeles Rams seem to have found new life due to the return of star wide receivers Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua.

In the Rams victory against the Minnesota Vikings, Kupp recorded five receptions for 51 yards and a touchdown while Nacua made seven receptions for 106 yards.

However, fans were worried that Nacua’s triumphant return had come to an abrupt end when it was reported that he had suffered another injury in practice before Los Angeles’ Week 9 game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Fortunately, reports suggest the Pro Bowler will be back in action.

According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, Nacua is expected to be back in time for Sunday’s game against the Seahawks.

“Rams wideout Puka Nukua is dealing with a knee injury, but it isn’t considered a major issue,” Russini said. “It was described to me as ‘nothing crazy.’ I expect him to be back in the lineup against the Seahawks.”

This is excellent news for a team that, before Nacua returned, had a 2-4 win-loss record. Nacua exited the first game of the season after only recording four receptions for 35 yards.

This comes after Nacua had one of the best rookie seasons for a wide receiver in NFL history.

In the regular season, Nacua recorded 105 receptions for 1,486 yards and six touchdowns. This led to him being named to his first Pro Bowl, second-team All-Pro, and to the PFWA All-Rookie Team.

In the Rams’ Wild Card loss to the Detroit Lions, Nacua made nine receptions for 181 yards and one touchdown.

Nacua set multiple records last season, including receptions in a rookie season, receiving yards in a rookie season, receptions by a rookie in a game (15), and receiving yards by a rookie in a playoff game.

Needless to say, the Rams need Nacua. While quarterback Matthew Stafford and running back Kyren Williams have tried to carry the team to victory, it hasn’t been quite enough.

If Nacua and Kupp are able to remain healthy for the rest of the season, there is a solid chance for the Rams to make it to the playoffs.
