Police Rule Out Foul Play in Death of Teen Employee

New developments in the death of Walmart employee Gursimran Kaur have emerged.

Local authorities concluded the death of the 19-year-old—who was found dead in a walk-in oven at the retailer’s Halifax location Oct. 19—was not suspicious and had no evidence of foul play, according to a press release issued by Halifax Regional Police Nov. 18.

“As a part of the investigation, we conducted several interviews, reviewed video footage and worked very closely with our partners at the Nova Scotia Department of Labor and medical examiner service,” Halifax Regional Police Public Information Officer Martin Cromwell said in a video statement Nov. 18. “Today, I can share that our investigation has not led us to suspect foul play.”

“We do not believe anyone else was involved in the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death,” he continued. “The Department of Labor and the medical examiner service are continuing their work, but we do not believe the death to be suspicious.”
