A GAMER has found a perfect solution to avoiding further price hikes for PlayStation Plus – but not everyone can afford the trick.
The video game fan shared his trick on Reddit, and users begged him to keep developers out of the loop.
In the thread, user u/on_reddit_in_class posted on r/PlayStationPlus to inform his fellow gamers that he had subscribed to the service until 2048.
He did so because of “absurd price increases” and figured he would be gaming for most of his life, so it was worth the plunge.
PlayStation Plus is a subscription service offered by the gaming console company that allows players to access online play.
The membership was recently combined with PlayStation Now – which offers access to hundreds of games on demand.

The Redditor saved a whopping 89% on a PlayStation Plus Premium subscription by purchasing 24 years of the baseline Playstation Plus Essential and then upgrading it.
Plus, he could also be saving himself from any major price hikes that PlayStation may bring.
Gaming fans were shocked when the company raised prices for the essential tier from $59.99 to $79.99 for 12 months of service in September 2023.
At the time, PlayStation defended its decision and warned that further adjustments could be on the horizon.
The Reddit poster’s off-the-wall solution made a huge splash online, as many people wondered just how much money he spent.
In a follow-up post, the gamer said, “I only paid $1,400 in total and there was no ‘bizarre loophole’ that I took advantage of.
“The price cap on converting from Essential to Premium has been a policy of Sony for years and they’ve continually revised it, most recently from $99 to now $199.
“I didn’t exploit anything, I just took an offer that Sony made/makes if I wanted to convert all of the years I stacked of Essential.”
Other gamers celebrated the unique solution and called the Redditor a “genius.”
“This is literally insane but amazing,” one person wrote.

Some people in the thread were worried PlayStation would see the post and change its rules accordingly.
“PlayStation about to limit maximum years subscribed to two. Don’t let them see this,” one Reddit user said.
Others criticized the decision and told the original poster he should have thought about PlayStation Plus eventually being cancelled.
“Hard to say if PlayStation would even be around by then,” one person said.
“I wouldn’t done it like 10 years. But it really is awesome that you were able to do this.
“Now if they try to raise the price again you’re basically immune.”
