The Carolina Panthers seem to have changed course a little bit regarding quarterback Bryce Young.
Five weeks ago, after Young was benched, Panthers head coach Dave Canales said the team was not considering trading last year’s No. 1 overall pick.
However, with two weeks until the league’s trade deadline, it appears that door is now slightly open.
While speaking to reporters on Monday, Canales was asked again about the team trading Young. This time, he just responded by calling it “hypothetical,” but said said that executive Brandt Tillis and general manager Dan Morgan are having those types of conversations.
Canales was also asked if he believed Young needed to play again this season so the Panthers could truly see what they have in former top pick. His response: “Right now we’re focused on the Broncos. Andy (Dalton)’s playing this week and that’s really where our focus is at.”
