The Green Bay Packers are preparing themselves for the upcoming NFC North showdown this weekend against the Minnesota Vikings. But the team still isn’t sure who will be under center for them when the contest kicks off.
Green Bay has been starting quarterback Malik Willis as starter Jordan Love recovers from his MCL injury that he suffered in Week 1. Love could return this week against Minnesota as he has practiced every day on a limited basis.
According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Love is officially being listed as questionable for the divisional game.
If Love can play, the Packers would feel a lot better about their chances of facing off against the Vikings. Minnesota has looked like the best team in football, especially after they dominated the Houston Texans last week.

While Willis has played well for the Packers, having Love start the game would be encouraging for the remainder of the season for Green Bay. This game could determine a lot seeding-wise in the division so each team would love to gain the advantage on the other.
Through two games as the starter, Willis has looked better than many would have guessed he would have. He has thrown for 324 yards with two touchdowns and zero interceptions. The former Liberty product has also rushed for 114 yards and one score on the ground as well, showing his dual-threat abilities.
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said he was encouraged by the prognoses of Love but that his status still remains up in the air. Green Bay will likely let Love test things out prior to kickoff before making the final determination on his game status.
“Anytime he’s out there, that’s encouraging, but again we’ll see,” said LaFleur of Love after Friday’s practice.
He has been progressing well over the last few weeks and could see game action earlier than many people believed he would. Green Bay is in wait-and-see mode with Love but this new update could hint at him trying to give it a go.
Before his injury, Love was seen as one of the more intriguing quarterbacks in the NFL. He signed a massive contract extension with the Packers this summer so Green Bay will want to be extra cautious with their franchise star.
No matter who is under center for the Packers, getting out of Minnesota with a win will be the goal. Green Bay has Super Bowl aspirations and winning the division is the first step in those goals.
