NFL icon Jason Kelce’s favorite video game is coming back.
Fans are set to be treated to a burst of nostalgia when 90s classic Backyard Sports releases.
Playground Productions announced that the Backyard Kids are making their comeback “in the coming months.”
“We’re incredibly excited to reintroduce Backyard Sport to a new generation of players,” chief product officer Chris Waters told Sports Illustrated.
“We’re taking great care to preserve the look and feel that made the original games so special while updating them with modern features and gameplay that today’s audience expects.
“I can’t wait for fans to see what we’re building on the Playground.”
A YouTube video titled ‘BACKYARD IS BACK!’ was released alongside the statement and fans cannot wait.
“I USED TO PRAY FOR TIMES LIKE THIS,” one commented on the post.
“So glad they’re returning to the classic character designs. Let’s gooooooo,” added another.
“COMEBACKS LIKE THIS JUST PROVE MIRACLES CAN HAPPEN,” posted a third.

“Loved this series since 2000! I’m glad to see it coming back. Not only that, but seemingly coming back to its original charm,” a fourth wrote.
“Cant believe we got Backyard Sports before GTA6. We’re so back,” a fifth suggested.
The original series was made by Humongous Entertainment and Atari.
It included football, baseball, basketball, soccer and hockey.
Players could use kid versions of superstars like Ken Griffey Jr., Kevin Garnett, Brett Favre, and Lisa Leslie.
Kelce once said he was considering buying the rights to “get this thing going again.”
‘It was a short retirement!’
Jason Kelce didn’t stay retired in the NFL for long.
The former Philadelphia Eagles lineman called it quits after the 2023 season.
But he will be part of ESPN’s coverage on Monday Night Football in 2024.
Kelce will appear on Monday Night Countdown from 6pm-8pm ET every week as well as during the halftime show.
“Turns out, it was a short retirement!” he joked.
“ESPN was a consistent presence in our household growing up and the network helped shape who I am and my love of all sports.
“To now appear on that same screen is a full circle moment.
“And, I mean it’s freaking Monday Night Football! and I’m ready for some football.”
But he has not had to dip into his pockets and Sports Illustrated say the retired center isn’t involved in the reboot.
Kelce revealed this month that he once punched his brother Travis during a basketball game.
The former Super Bowl champion, 36, has a close relationship with his younger sibling, 34.
As many brothers do, however, the pair had a few scrapes as kids.
On one such occasion, Jason punched his little brother after Travis had taken exception to being fouled while playing basketball.
“We’re out in the backyard and he starts just driving and doing these stupid shots,” he told Shaquille O’Neal during an appearance on The Big Podcast.
“He’s making it every single time and I can’t do anything to stop it. So I resort to fouling him, the only way I know how to stop it.
“So he says, ‘That’s bulls***, that’s a foul.’ I’m like, ‘I don’t see any refs out here, I don’t see anyone calling it.’
“He takes the ball, throws it at me, it goes in the house. I go in there, I grab him by the shoulder and I punch him.”
