THE New York Jets have been predicted to cut ties with former Pro Bowl kicker Greg Zuerlein amid the worst season of his career.
The 2-6 Jets don’t have much time to decide on Zuerlein’s future ahead of their next matchup which comes against the Houston Texans on Thursday Night Football in Week 9.

The 36-year-old Zuerlein has had a disastrous season, to say the least.
He missed a game-winning field goal against the Denver Broncos in Week 4, two field goals against the Buffalo Bills in Week 6, and a missed try against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the following week.
The Jets lost all those games, and Zuerlein’s struggles continued versus the New England Patriots in Week 8.
Zuerlein missed an extra point after a touchdown in the first quarter, and he missed a 44-yard field goal in the second half of the 25-22 loss to the division rival.
The veteran kicker Zuerlein now holds the worst field goal percentage in the NFL among kickers with more than two attempts in 2024.
During the road game over the weekend, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic wrote on X, “Greg Zuerlein just missed another kick. It’s time to move on.”
Fansided’s The Jet Press also shared the belief that Zuerlein’s future with the Jets seems all but over.
“Pretty remarkable the team stuck with him as long as they did. But yeah, safe to say he’s a goner,” The Jet Press said on social media.
After Sunday’s game, Ulbrich was asked whether he regrets sticking with Zuerlein.
“No. I do not,” he replied to a reporter.
The Jets have yet to make a decision on their kicker for Thursday’s game.
However, they officially started the kicker competition on Tuesday.
NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported that the Jets have worked out Cade York, Riley Patterson, Spencer Schrader, Andre Szmyt, Zane Gonzalez, and Brayden Narveson.
York and Narveson are the only two who have kicked in a contest his season.

The six kickers took part in a tryout at MetLife Stadium.
Ulbrich said the competition will continue through Wednesday with all six kickers before deciding on their starter for Thursday.
Zuerlein’s brutal campaign comes after a reliable year for the Jets in 2023, his first year with the team.
He hit 35 of 38 of his field goal attempts.
Zuerlein also earned All-Pro and Pro Bowl nods with the Los Angeles Rams in 2017.
