Last month, Nayanthara slammed Dhanush in an open letter and called him out for not granting permission to use some of the stills from Naanum Rowdy Dhaan for her documentary Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairytale. Now, she opened up about her actions and said that it was important that she spoke out.
During an interview, the Jawan actress said, “Courage only comes from the truth. I only have to be scared when I’m fabricating something. If I’m not doing that, I don’t have to be scared. If I didn’t speak out now, when things had already gone too far, I don’t think anyone would have the courage to stand up for themselves ever again.”
She continued, “Why should I be scared of doing something which I feel is right? I should be scared only if I’m doing something wrong. I’m not someone who would want to tarnish someone’s image just for the sake of publicity.”
She also clarified that her letter was not a publicity stunt and revealed that she reached out to Dhanush’s manager and requested that they get her on a call with the actor. She said that she wanted to clear the air with Dhanush.

Nayanthara also shared that the footage she used in the documentary was behind-the-scenes stills captured by a crew member that doesn’t qualify as the official footage. The actress felt it was unfair that Dhanush blew it out of proportion instead of letting the issue go.
