Moment Parents of Twins Leave for Work, Then Realize What They Left Behind

Footage has been shared of the moment the parents of twins, who were both heading out to work, realized they had left something very important in their apartment.

The first few years of parenting can be exhausting. In fact, a 2019 study published in the journal Sleep, estimated that new parents face up to six years of sleep deprivation after the birth of their first child. Anyone facing that level of disruption is bound to feel exhausted and to be prone to occasional bouts of absentmindedness.

As the parents of twins, Andre and Katelyn Clark from Lexington, Kentucky, have it twice as hard, so the occasional lapse is not only understandable, but something they try to look back on and laugh at. That’s partly why Clark opted to share the security camera footage that was recorded outside their front door a couple of weeks ago.

“We were both on our way to work,” Clark told Newsweek. “My husband and I usually walk out the door at the same time, one of us grabs one twin and the other grabs the other.”

On this particular day, as Andre was closing the door, he began to suspect he had left something behind. It turned out, however, he’d actually left something else inside the apartment.

“He was the last one out the door, and when he asked me if I had his vape, I turned around and saw he had no car seat,” Clark said.

In his rush to get out in time for work, Andre had left one of the twins completely safe, but back just inside the door of their home.

“At first I felt confused as to why he didn’t have a kid with him and then found it funny since the children were in no immediate danger,” Clark said.

After spending a few minutes laughing about it, they headed off for another busy day. It was only later, when Clark remembered they had the camera above the door, that she thought to upload the video to her TikTok one2die4_kbugg.

The clip drew supportive responses from those commenting on the post. “I had one at a time and still had these moments…… being able to laugh together! yall got this! congratulations on the babies,” one wrote.

“I am a mommy of twins let me tell you I have done this so many times,” a second said, with a third adding: “My grandma was taking me to my friends house but she forgot me at home.”

While the video captures a funny moment, Clark hopes those watching take away a bigger message.

“I want other parents to know that mistakes happen all the time in parenting and there is no instruction manual in raising kids,” she said. “The video represents how parenting fails, and mistakes happen all the time, but we do our best every single day.”
