We had a scary situation occur during the bottom of the 5th inning of the New York Yankees game against the Colorado Rockies. During a player appearance for slugger Giancarlo Stanton, home plate umpire Nick Mahrley took the brunt of Stanton’s broken bat.
Mahrley was hit in the throat by the bat and had to be carted off. Right after the play happened, the Rockies catcher noticed him and went to make sure he was alright.
The hope is that he is okay. This is always a scary situation but it seems that he is getting the care he needs.
