A try-scoring rugby sevens player has needed seven stitches to repair a cut on his caused by a falling crossbar.
Mexico were up against Bermuda in the Rugby Americas North Sevens competition in Trinidad this week when the bizarre incident unfolded.

With the match still locked at 0-0, Mexico’s No.9 — named as Diego Aguilar by the commentator — received the final pass just inside his own half and put the foot down in his bid to see off two Bermudan challengers.
But he was reached by one just before the line and crashed into the right upright before he could be taken to ground.
Aguilar bent himself around the post to score but at the same time the crossbar had fallen out of the left upright and subsequently the right.
Entirely unaware, Aguilar stood up to begin celebrating only to be smashed across the top of the head by the falling crossbar.
“The craziest injury I’ve seen in all my years doing pitch-side physio,” Cayman Islands-based physio Dwain McGuinness wrote before sharing a snapshot of the outcome.

‘NRLPhysio’ Brian Seeney joked it was a “clear send-off” from the crossbar.
“Has to be the first time in history this has happened, hope the player is OK!” he wrote.
Mexico went on to top their group but finished fourth in the final standings.
Canada won the tournament with a 38-0 triumph over Trinidad & Tobago in the final, while Jamaica finished third.
