They say the best gifts are the ones you craft on your own, and Mark Zuckerberg did exactly that for his wife, Priscilla Chan. And in doing so, he enlisted the help of some hip-hop legends.
For Zuckerberg and Chan’s most recent dating anniversary, the Facebook founder, 40, threw it back to his and Chan’s college days with some early 2000s hip-hop.
The multibillionaire took to Instagram on Wednesday, November 13 to reminisce over Lil Jon & The Eastside Boyz and Ying Yang Twins’ 2002 hit single “Get Low” — and how it was blasting in the background of a party when he first met Chan at Harvard University. In honor of their anniversary, Zuckerberg recorded a cover of the song, and recruited the help of another hip-hop legend — T-Pain.
“‘Get Low'” was playing when I first met Priscilla at a college party, so every year we listen to it on our dating anniversary,” Zuckerberg wrote in the post’s caption. “This year I worked with @tpain on our own version of this lyrical masterpiece. Sound on for the track and also available on Spotify. Love you P.”
On this particular version, Zuckerberg and T-Pain — who released their cover under the stage name Z-Pain —- sing the song over an acoustic, guitar-driven instrumental track. Zuckerberg sings the melody as T-Pain harmonizes with his signature Auto-Tune flair.
In the aforementioned post, Zuckerberg’s followers see behind-the-scenes images of the two working on the track, as well as throwback pictures of the Meta owner and Chan during their college days.
“Can’t get quite as low anymore but more in love and grateful for that love than ever,” wrote Chan in the post’s comments.
The couple — who have both discussed their early 2000s meet cute at a frat party during Chan’s freshman year — got married in May 2012. Zuckerberg and Chan share three daughters: Maxima, 8, August, 7, and Aurelia, 1.
The pair reportedly have a combined net worth of over $200 billion.
