Mark Consuelos’ golf game got a little too real for one unsuspecting bystander on live TV.
During the Tuesday, November 12 episode of Live With Kelly and Mark, the 53-year-old co-host was out on the green in Palm Springs, showing off his swing when he spotted a woman standing right in his line of fire. (The morning talk show is typically filmed in New York City, however, the series temporarily moved to California to tape four shows at the Westin Rancho Mirage Golf Resort & Spa in Rancho Mirage.)
“Lady! Hey, lady! Hey, lady! Watch out!” Consuelos called out. His wife (and longtime Live host) Kelly Ripa, was watching from the sidelines, but couldn’t resist jumping in: “Oh my gosh, there is a lady. You’re supposed to yell, ‘Fore!’ Even I know you yell, ‘Fore!'”
The audience got into the action too, chanting, “Fore!” as Consuelos tried to convince the woman to move. But once he finally took his shot, it looked like she was in the clear. “Did you hit that lady that was actually golfing?” Ripa, 54, asked her beau as he returned to his seat. Laughing, Consuelos admitted, “I almost hit that lady. She almost owns the Westin, yes.”
Consuelos’ so-called “alpha” moves — as Ripa called his latest behavior — have become a bit of a theme on the show lately. In addition to his bold golf swing, Ripa recently recounted an instance of her husband’s take-charge attitude — this time on a crowded flight. “We got on the flight, and there was hardly anybody on the plane,” she explained in October. But suddenly, “like, 20 people got on,” Consuelos added, and overhead space quickly ran out.
With every compartment packed, Ripa watched as Consuelos took matters into his own hands. “You took out a man’s man purse,” she recalled, before turning to the audience to explain, “Mark took it out, put it between his legs, put my suitcase up there, and he goes, ‘Is this somebody’s bag?'”
“I didn’t even ask him,” Consuelos laughed, admitting he simply “shamed him into doing that, like, put it under the seat.”
Ripa noted that the move “was very alpha,” though she quickly added, “I almost used another word that they’d probably bleep out.”
The couple, who met in 1995 while starring on All My Children, have been married since 1996 and share three adult children together: Michael, 27, Lola, 23, and Joaquin, 21.
