‘Red Devils still interested in Liverpool target’

Liverpool’s bid to land Valencia keeper Giorgi Mamardashvili might not be as smooth as thought.

Manchester United reportedly still have an interest in the Georgian Euro 2024 star.

But Anfield is by far the likeliest destination for the giant stopper.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano commented on X: “Liverpool are pushing to seal Giorgi Mamardashvili deal with new contacts with Valencia already scheduled.

“One more meeting will take place as agreement is done on €35m (about £30m)fee plus sell-on clause, still negotiating on deal structure. Giorgi would stay at Valencia on loan.”

Prem clubs circle as Victor ‘rejects Saudis’

Top Prem target Victor Osimhen is expected to reject a huge-money Saudi Arabia offer.

Arsenal and especially Chelsea this summer are reportedly monitoring the Napoli striker’s situation

The Nigerian’s agent Roberto Calenda wrote on X: “Osimhen is a Napoli player, with a contract recently renewed with mutual satisfaction.

“He made history and when there were major offers (also this year) we always accepted the club’s decisions.

“As I said, he is not a package to be shipped far away to make room for new prophets. Victor was elected African footballer of the year, eighth at the Ballon d’Or, he still has so much to do in Europe. There needs to be respect and balance.”

Man Utd’s fixtures

United will be looking to bounce back after defeat to Brighton.

Here’s a reminder of their fixtures for this season.

Nev admits he was wrong on Raya

Gary Neville believes Mikel Arteta got it right after all – when he claimed David Raya and Aaron Ramsdale were joint Arsenal No1s.

Raya quickly became the main man – despite Arteta’s words – after he arrived on loan from Brentford a year ago.

The Spanish stopper then made the move permanent this summer – and arguably is in his best form ever.

Manchester United legend Neville told his own podcast: “I mean, I complained at the time.

“And what I complained about what this idea you can have two No1s and that they compete for a place.

“I don’t believe that happens. I mean, it’s gonna come at Chelsea in the next few weeks, where you’ve got multiple goalkeepers and you’ve got this uncertainty. And I’ve never seen it really work.

“What Mikel Arteta was actually doing was selecting David Raya as No1, as we found out in the end, and letting Ramsdale down quietly. Rather than just coming out in the press conference and saying, ‘Look, David Raya’s my No1,’ he said, ‘No, I’ve got two goalkeepers. I want them both to compete.”
