Man Utd’s fixtures
United will be looking to bounce back after defeat to Brighton.
Here’s a reminder of their fixtures for this season.
Nev admits he was wrong on Raya
Gary Neville believes Mikel Arteta got it right after all – when he claimed David Raya and Aaron Ramsdale were joint Arsenal No1s.
Raya quickly became the main man – despite Arteta’s words – after he arrived on loan from Brentford a year ago.
The Spanish stopper then made the move permanent this summer – and arguably is in his best form ever.
Manchester United legend Neville told his own podcast: “I mean, I complained at the time.
“And what I complained about what this idea you can have two No1s and that they compete for a place.
“I don’t believe that happens. I mean, it’s gonna come at Chelsea in the next few weeks, where you’ve got multiple goalkeepers and you’ve got this uncertainty. And I’ve never seen it really work.
“What Mikel Arteta was actually doing was selecting David Raya as No1, as we found out in the end, and letting Ramsdale down quietly. Rather than just coming out in the press conference and saying, ‘Look, David Raya’s my No1,’ he said, ‘No, I’ve got two goalkeepers. I want them both to compete.”
Clarets close on Red Devils starlet
Manchester United have agreed terms for wonderkid Hannibal Mejbri to join Burnley, according to reports.
The 21-year-old will initially join on loan but the Championship outfit will have an obligation to permanently sign him next summer.
Hannibal is due to undergo his medical on Monday ahead of completing the move, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.
The deal was described as “almost there” as the midfielder enters the final year of his United contract after signing a one-year extension in December.
He joined United’s youth system from Monaco in 2019 and made 13 first-team appearances for the club, scoring once, in a 3-1 defeat to Brighton last season.
Hannibal’s sale will be banked as “pure profit” as his book value after five years at the club is now the same as an academy player.
Chelsea’s ‘Sancho hopes dented’
Chelsea’s chances of landing Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho might have been jolted.
That’s because it looks increasingly like Juventus are firming up their interest in the English winger.
It’s also suggested the two clubs are set for talks.
United would reportedly love to offload the 24-year-old – not least to boost their Financial Fair Play situation.
