The addition is set to open to the public in 2025, ahead of its 30th anniversary.

The expansion will include Splash Island, a 58,000-square-foot zone, and a 50-foot structure with over 110 water features, including seven family-friendly water slides.

A 1,000-gallon tipping water bucket will soak fun-lovers below as riders glide down the slides.

The kid-friendly slide area, with a mini-tornado slide and a mini-wave slide, will amp up the splash experience with names like “Shark Attack” and “Cowabunga.”

A splash pad will also feature 24 different water effects.

On top of the kiddie zone, Hurricane Harbor will upgrade its amenities, including new family cabanas, oversized umbrellas, and refreshed bathrooms.

The park’s main restaurant will also be renovated to improve guests’ dining experience.

“This historic expansion at Six Flags Hurricane Harbor represents a whole new experience for families next year,” said Richard Douaihy, park president of Six Flags Over Texas and Hurricane Harbor, in a press release.

“We are transforming the water park with exciting new family attractions and enhanced comfort and dining options, making it the premier destination for family waterpark fun in North Texas.”

The renovation is the waterpark’s “biggest investment in its 42-year history.”

Six Flags Entertainment Corporation has announced additional investments and upgrades to its portfolio of theme parks nationwide.

Six Flags Great America in Illinois closed down two rides, Revolution and Mardi Gras Hangover, to make room for Sky Striker, a 2024 addition.

The company also announced plans to open seven new rollercoasters last Thursday and upgrade food and beverage facilities throughout all its parks.

The lineup of coasters will include Wrath of Rakshasa, which will open at Six Flags Great America in Chicago in 2025.

Rakshasa’s initial 96-degree drop will be the steepest of any dive coaster in the world, the company said in a statement.

“Riders will test their limits on the ride’s beyond-vertical, 171-foot drop, the steepest of any dive coaster in the world,” the company said.

“But the initial 96-degree drop is just the beginning as Wrath of Rakshasa reaches speeds up to 67 mph, shattering a second world record with five total inversions, the most of any dive coaster in the world.”

Six Flags New England will also gain the Quantum Accelerator, a dual-launch roller coaster, which will set to become New England’s first straddle coaster.

With a second launch mid-ride, passengers will be catapulted up to 45 miles an hour.
