Madelaine Petsch, Jacob Scipio To Star In ‘Maintenance Required’ Rom-Com

EXCLUSIVE: Madelaine Petsch (The Strangers: Chapter 1) and Jacob Scipio (Bad Boys: Ride or Die) have been tapped to star in Maintenance Required, a new romantic comedy for Future Artists Entertainment, Luber Roklin Entertainment and Amazon MGM Studios, on which Petsch will also serve as an executive producer.

Currently in production, the film follows Charlie (Petsch), who is forced to reconsider the viability of her beloved all-female mechanic shop. Seeking connection on an online car forum, little does she know her confidant, Beau (Scipio), is in fact her real-life business rival.

Luber Roklin and Future Artists developed the script for Amazon, placing first-time feature director Lacey Uhlemeyer at the helm. Author Erin Falconer (How to Break Up with Your Friends) wrote the script with Uhlemeyer, Roo Berry, and Luke Roberts. Future Artists Entertainment’s Matt Williams will produce alongside Lena Roklin and Matt Luber of Luber Roklin Entertainment, with Petsch as EP.

In a statement to Deadline, Future Artists’ Williams said, “We are thrilled to be working with Amazon MGM Studios on Maintenance Required. This project blends the charm and wit of a classic romance with the exhilarating world of car culture. It’s great to see Madelaine behind the wheel, driving the story alongside our fantastic leading man Jacob Scipio.”

Petsch is coming off of success with The Strangers: Chapter 1, the first installment in a new horror trilogy from Lionsgate, which grossed over $47M worldwide. She also exec produced the pic, based on Bryan Bertino’s popular 2008 horror pic The Strangers, and is otherwise best known for starring on The CW’s Riverdale, which ran for seven seasons.

Most recently reprising his role as Armando, the estranged son of Will Smith’s Det. Mike Lowrey, in Sony’s Bad Boys: Ride or Die, which grossed over $403 million worldwide, Scipio’s other feature credits include The Expendables 4 opposite Jason Statham, Sylvester Stallone and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Without Remorse opposite Michael B. Jordan, and The Outpost from Rod Lurie.

Petsch is represented by CAA, Mosaic, and Goodman, Genow, Schenkman; Scipio by CAA, Luber Roklin, and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole; Uhlemeyer by Buchwald and Luber Roklin; and Falconer by Gersh and Luber Roklin.
