DISCOUNT sales are underway at popular craft stores across the US that are set to close.
Party City chiefs continue to whittle down the chain’s portfolio of outlets – just a year after emerging from bankruptcy.
But a number of stores are set to go to the wall and sales have already begun.
One store in Owensboro, Kentucky – around 100 miles from Louisville – will be closing in mid-November and bosses are wasting no time beginning the sale, as reported by The Owensboro Times.
Meanwhile, crafts fanatics can get up to 25% off items at the Party City store in Salina, New York.
But shoppers don’t face an immediate rush as the store is expected to close around January 16, according to The Post Standard.
Bosses didn’t delve into reasons why the store is closing.
It has been a constant at the Northern Lights Plaza for more than two decades.
A Party City store in Albany, Georgia, has closed and the prices of the last remaining items were cut by 90%, as reported by the ABC affiliate WALB.
Footage shared by the outlet showed empty shelves and aisles sealed off in what was the store’s final days.
Helen Holmes, a Party City shopper, admitted she was saddened by the closure but hopeful about new businesses that could move in.
Party City stores in Topeka, Kansas, and Joplin, Missouri, will also be closing for good.
Shoppers have been met with signs that have warned them all items must go and sales up to 25%.
The Topeka Party City store will be closing on January 18, 2025, and a manager shared the reason behind the pending closure.
They said they had too much space, per the NBC affiliate KSNT.

The pending closures come just months after the chain opened a redesigned store in Gaithersburg, Maryland.
Party City was plagued with financial issues during 2023.
The chain had over 800 stores in its heyday but bosses filed for bankruptcy in January last year.
Party City bosses restructured the company and managed to clear just shy of $1 billion in debt from its books.
Execs blamed the impact of the pandemic and helium shortages on its sales.
Dozens of stores across the US closed as the chain, founded in 1986, fought for its survival.
The company exited bankruptcy in October 2023 and there was also a transition at the top of the company.
Brad Weston, previously the company’s CEO, has since stepped down.
Party City is not the only chain that has seen store closures.
Hundreds of Big Lots locations are set to go after the chain entered bankruptcy.
The U.S. Sun reported how the last remaining full-sized K-Mart will close in weeks.
And, a Best Buy store in Gaithersburg will be closing in late October after 30 years.
