Labradors, like Cooper, are known for their love of the water, and they can never have enough. However, not all dogs like water. Some are afraid of even dipping a paw, but what makes these dogs so afraid?

Dog wellness experts at Rover state that if your dog’s only experience with water is during bath time, they may not like water in other scenarios. Moreover, if they’ve never seen anything bigger than a tub, the unfamiliar situation of larger bodies of water may overwhelm them.

However, your dog’s aversion to water could just be part of its personality. “Some dogs are more anxious, period, and others aren’t inclined to take risks like diving into a suspicious new substance,” the pet resource website added.

But what can you do to help your pup overcome this fear? The first step is to take it slow and avoid forcing it upon your dog. You can bribe him with treats. It is essential to start in calm waters so they’re less frightened.

If they have a pet friend who’s confident in the water, bringing them along may help your dog feel more secure, and willing to join in the fun.

The video quickly went viral on social media, getting viewers from across TikTok. It has so far received over 745,200 views and 51,800 likes on the platform.
