THE LA Lakers have made a final decision over the future of Bronny James.
The 20-year-old was picked 55th in the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft.
He has had a timid start to his time with the Lakers, playing just 13 minutes.
That has come across eight games of the campaign, where he has scored just four points.
Now, the Lakers have decided to ship him off to the G League.
He will spend time with the team’s affiliate down in South Bay.
The move is sure to have caused issues with his legendary dad LeBron.
The 39-year-old was a key part in the reason the 17-time champions drafted Bronny.
They became the first active father and son duo to play in the NBA.
But the Lakers want the rookie to get more experience on the court.
Bronny is now set to make his debut for South Bay against Salt Lake City on Saturday.
His switch has been a huge hit with fans, with the game already sold out.
According to ESPN, the plan is for the youngster to be on the roster for the Lakers next game.
They take on the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday night.
He will then head off to play for South Bay the next day.
It is understood he will only play in home games in the G League.
Their court and facilities are all part of the LA Lakers organisation.
Lakers head coach JJ Redick revealed last month this had been the plane all along.
“The plan for Bronny to move between the Lakers and South Bay,” he said:
“It has always been the plan since day one.”
Bronny and his representatives, Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul, discussed plans with teams before the pre-NBA Draft process.
He is believed to be happy and ready to play down in the G League.
The Lakers have had a mixed start to the season under new coach Redick.
The team are 4-4 on the year, having lost 131-114 to the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday.
