KOHL’S shoppers are running out of time to shop the department store as one location’s last days are in sight.
The store will quietly shut down in weeks, to be replaced by a grocery store.
The wave of holiday shoppers will likely be the last hurrah for one Kohl’s location.
Kohl’s in Herndon, Virginia – 20 miles from Washington DC – is set to close permanently in January.
Located at 2100 Centreville Road, the department store will be converted into a Lidl.
The architectural plans for the new grocery store have been drawn up since October, according to a local outlet.
The plans revealed that the large retail space would be divided into at least three separate units, with Lidl taking the middle unit.
The building permit applications were previously submitted to the Fairfax County system and under review.
A Kohl’s sales associate told the local outlet the plans to close the store and convert it into a Lidl were just an “online rumor.”
However, this month another employee confirmed that the Herndon Kohl’s was scheduled to close on January 18.
The new Lidl discount grocery store will be the first in Herndon.
No tenants have been announced for the other two retail spaces.
DEALS DEALS DEALS
Before the location closes in early 2025, shoppers will have a last chance to score major deals at Kohl’s.
The chain kicked off its Early Black Friday Event on November 8 and customers can indulge in even more sales from November 24 through November 29.
Holiday shoppers can enjoy half-off toys from brands such as Lego, Disney, and more.
Throughout the sales event, there will also be deals on electronics, tech, Sephora at Kohl’s, home decor, small electronics, jewelry, apparel, and more.
Shoppers can also receive an extra 15% off their qualifying purchase and earn a lot of Kohl’s Cash.
From November 24 through 29, customers will receive $15 Kohl’s Cash for every $50 spent.
Like many other major retailers, however, Kohl’s will be closed on Thanksgiving.
