KIRK HERBSTREIT appears to have retired from his popular ESPN show.
Herbstreit, 55, is a former Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback as well as an ESPN college football analyst and broadcaster.
But it seems like the famous network has decided to remove him from the weekly college football playoff rankings show.
The American TV persona revealed during Saturday’s broadcast of the Alabama versus LSU game that he is no longer a part of the show.
Herbstreit said: “I retired from that.”
That of course caught various college football fans by surprise as they took to social media.
One fan tweeted: “I bet he will be on the playoff selection show. His schedule is full. Taking Tuesdays off is good.”
Another commented: “Nothing stands in between ESPN and the SEC bag.”
Herbstreit has been going through a tough time lately after losing his beloved dog Ben to cancer.
The golden retriever won over the hearts of college football fans with several cameos during his owner’s shows.
Tributes poured from everywhere after the devastating news and the broadcaster issued a touching post to show his gratitude.
Herbstreit tweeted: “I’m sorry I couldn’t properly lead to this beautiful tribute the @CollegeGameDay put together.
“Really wanted to thank all of you for the avalanche of love and support you’ve shown Ben.
“It gives me and my family such comfort knowing how he impacted so many peoples lives around the country. He was a beautiful and loving soul.”
