In an interview published on Wednesday, October 23, Kelsey told Us Weekly that she would back her father if he wanted to give it a go. If that’s what he wants to do, I would fully support him,” she quipped. “I think that my dad has grown so much through this journey of The Golden Bachelorette. So, yeah, I would 100 percent be excited for him and support him.”

Kelsey’s dad and Mark’s wife, Denise, passed away from breast cancer in 2018. Both the father and daughter duo talked about her impact on their lives in their respective seasons of the franchise.

Kelsey admitted it was tough when her dad got eliminated as he had developed feelings for Joan. “I know that after he left, he was pretty sad because he did really appreciate Joan and he really did care for her. So I think he had a hard time leaving,” she remarked.

Despite things not working out with Joan, Kelsey told the outlet her dad enjoyed his time on the show and even walked away with some new buddies. “I think that he really valued his experience through it all and he had the best time,” she shared. “He was like, ‘I made 21 best friends.’ He had the best time and I think that it helped him grow a lot with his grieving as well.”

The franchise has also given Mark, Kelsey, and Joey a unique experience over which they can all bond. “Joey and my dad were talking about it for a while, just like the relationships you build,” Kelsey stated. “It’s cute for us to all have something else to bond over.”

There was one part about watching her dad on TV that the newly engaged woman said she could have done without. “I didn’t want to see him kissing somebody,” Kelsey told the outlet. “It’s funny, but I mean, I’m sure he had the same experience watching me on The Bachelor. So it’s all fair.”

The Golden Bachelorette airs Wednesday on ABC.
