Kelly Ripa Interjects as Live Producers Get Into Argument in Episode

Kelly Ripa played referee when things got tense between producers on Live With Kelly and Mark. The TV host jumped in when executive producer Michael Gelman and producer Scott Eason got into an argument during an episode of the show on Wednesday, October 30.

Kelly, 54, and her husband, Mark Consuelos, sat at the news desk and began a segment when she noticed the two producers talking about something off camera. She decided to address the distracting chatter live during the broadcast.

“Well, I don’t know, you seem like you two are having a discussion,” Kelly said while addressing them. “Here’s the thing, neither one of you are invisible, and when our parents start arguing with each other over us, we are fully aware that it is happening. So, is there something you want to say to each other?”

Fans probably would have never guessed what the nature of the argument was actually about. It turns out, Michael wanted Scott to put a bowl of pistachios on the table for the cohosts to munch on during the show. Unfortunately, things just didn’t turn out as planned, resulting in the exchange.

“You have some pistachios on your little side table there,” Michael explained. “For some reason, Scott was afraid to put them on the table.”

“Do you guys want to work it out?” Kelly asked, as Mark, 53, suggested that he and the staff would have a “talk” during a commercial break about what transpired.

But like the professional she is, Kelly made light of the situation during the episode and made everyone laugh with a witty remark.

“This is a show I would watch, honestly. Tomorrow we should stand here and you guys sit here,” she said.

Later on in the day, Scott addressed what went down on the show’s Instagram page.

“Listen, I didn’t want to stick my arm creepily into the side of the screen,” he said. He revealed that the pistachios “were on the side table” but Michael hoped to move them into the view of the camera. However, he said they were slightly out of reach and he did not want to disrupt the shot. Scott said that he “wrote a note to Michael” during the broadcast that “said, ‘We have the nuts.’”

Things seemed to be back to normal for everyone on the show in time for Live’s Halloween episode on Thursday, October 31. Mark dressed as Beetlejuice during the episode, while Kelly dressed as Lydia Deetz. They also sported some other costumes in promos for the show and throughout the episode, including Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce and Ryan Reynolds‘ Deadpool and Blake Lively‘s Lady Deadpool.

“Nobody gives less Taylor vibes than me,” Kelly told USA Today on October 28 of her Taylor costume. “I’ve known Taylor Swift since she was a young teenager and first appeared on our show many, many, many years ago. And she’s been on our show many times, and in every era of her life. She is just as charming and divine and delightful, and all of the things that you think she is for all of these years. I can’t capture the essence of that in a very brief clip of her dancing at the U.S. Open, but I did my best to at least not embarrass her on behalf of both of us.”
