Kelly Clarkson is a true Celine Dion fan, and the fact that Celine Dion responded as she did to Kelly’s cover of the Celine classic, “My Heart Will Go On,” completely blew Kelly away. Here is how it all began.

Céline Dion recently shared her heartfelt reaction to Kelly Clarkson’s rendition of her iconic song “My Heart Will Go On.” Clarkson performed the 1997 hit, famously featured in Titanic, during the “Kellyoke” segment of her show last month.

“You were absolutely incredible. Fantastic,” Dion gushed on social media Tuesday. “I loved it so much. I hope we can see each other in person soon, very soon. And I hope I’m not going to start crying. I love you so much.”

The emotional post began with Dion mentioning she’d seen Clarkson’s reaction to her performance at the 2024 Olympics opening ceremony in July. This appearance marked Dion’s comeback after revealing her stiff-person syndrome diagnosis in 2022.

Clarkson, part of NBC’s coverage team, was visibly moved by Dion’s performance of Edith Piaf’s “Hymne A L’Amour.”

“I actually can’t talk,” Clarkson said afterward, per PEOPLE. Once composed, she added, “That was really beautiful. People don’t know her story. What she’s been going through physically… it’s just incredible what she’s overcome and have that moment.” She called Dion “a vocal athlete” for overcoming her health challenges.

Dion had explained on Today in June that the rare neurological disorder causes muscle stiffness and spasms. She described singing with it as feeling “like somebody’s strangling you.”

In her post, Dion acknowledged Clarkson’s kind words. “It was so sweet to hear you. Your voice. Your voice was breaking, and it touched me so tremendously,” Dion said, tearing up. “You were crying, and you made me start crying. What’s up with all this freakin’ crying?” She admitted that watching Clarkson’s cover of her signature song brought tears to her eyes once again.

Clarkson responded late Tuesday (Oct. 08, 2024), reminiscing about performing another Dion song while battling laryngitis during her American Idol days. She expressed gratitude for another chance to sing a song by one of her heroes. “Where do you want me to be?” Clarkson asked eagerly.

“@celinedion you have no idea how much you even noticing my existence means to me! Thank you so much for being such an amazing example of true passion and being one of the greatest vocalists of all time that I am still, to this day, inspired by ❤️,’ she captioned the video on her show’s official Instagram.

This touching exchange between two of music’s powerhouse vocalists reminds us of the deep connections formed through shared passion and mutual respect. It’s a testament to how music can bridge generations and touch hearts, even in the face of personal challenges.

As fans, we’re privileged to witness these genuine moments between artists we admire. It’s refreshing to see such vulnerability and support in an industry often criticized for its competitiveness.
