Jason Kelce Sets Record Straight on Remarks About Wife Kylie

Jason Kelce is addressing negative comments about his wife, particularly from one user who labeled Kylie Kelce as merely a “homemaker.” This response comes just days after he voiced his opinion on Harrison Butker’s controversial remarks about women.

The football player defended his wife in a post via X (formerly known as Twitter), on Monday, May 27. “I don’t think of Kylie as a homemaker, I think of her as my wife. I think of her as a mother. She has an occupation, as do I, and we keep our house the best we can,” Jason shared. “Our marriage is a partnership, we are equals who are figuring it out on the daily. The only expectation is that we love each other, support one another, and are committed to our family, that comes first.”

This was in response to a tweet that read: “Your wife is a homemaker. But you can’t support Butker. And your wife is a homemaker whose home is a mess. Sorry but it is dirty and messy on television. Seems you’re a bit hypocritical. Y’all are going to be left with nothing but Swifties. You just ruined your gig. It’s a shame.”

In Jason’s tweet, he continued: “We both raise our kids, we both work, We both keep our home. It is both our faults it is messy, but such is life with 3 young children, busy schedules, and neither of us being neat freaks. She also makes a mean sandwich.”

He ended the message off with: “If being a homemaker, works for some, and that’s what they want, then hell yea, that’s awesome, more power to you. I want to be clear, I’m not downplaying that at all, but that is not our family dynamic.”

This criticism follows the former Philadelphia Eagle’s Friday, May 24 podcast episode, New Heights, which he co-hosts with his brother Travis Kelce. In this episode, Jason shared his views on Butker’s controversial remarks made during a commencement speech at Benedictine College on Saturday, May 11. Jason expressed his disagreement with several points Butker raised in his speech.

“A lot of the things he said in his commencement speech are not things that I align myself with, but he was giving a commencement speech at a Catholic university and — shocker — it ended up being a very religious and Catholic speech,” Jason said.
He also remarked that his wife Kylie was “a little bit frustrated by some of the comments.”

Butker is receiving a lot of negative feedback via social media after the speech was posted — specifically his stance on women in the workplace.

“I think it is you, the women, who have had the most diabolic lies told to you,” Butker said in the speech. “Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world, but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world. I can tell you that my beautiful wife Isabelle would be the first to say her life truly started when she started living her vocation as a wife and as a mother.”

Butker has also responded to the “shocking level of hate,” he’s been receiving since the speech, at the Regina Caeli Academy Courage Under Fire Gala in Nashville Tennessee on Friday, May 24.

“If it wasn’t clear that the timeless Catholic values are hated by many, it is now,” he said. “Over the past few days, my beliefs, or what people think I believe, have been the focus of countless discussions around the globe.”

Butker continued: “At the outset, many people expressed a shocking level of hate, but as the days went on — even those who disagreed with my viewpoints — shared their support for my freedom of religion. In my seven years of being in the NFL, I’ve become familiar with the positive and negative comments, but the majority of them revolve around my performance on the field.”
